WHAT ARE ERCOT PROTOCOLS AND WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT NPRR 776?
ERCOT protocols outline the procedures and processes used by ERCOT and Market Participants for the orderly functioning of the ERCOT system and nodal market.
ERCOT’s Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) 776 aligns communication between Transmission Service Providers (TSP), Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSE), and Generation Resources. It also identifies a new telemetered data point (Voltage Set Point) and identification of the Point of Interconnection (POI) kV measurements to be used relative to the Voltage Set Point which is to be provided by the TSP to ERCOT, the QSE, and the Generation Resource.
By clarifying roles and responsibilities related to Voltage Set Point instructions, this protocol reduces operational risk. It also provides fast and transparent instructions for Voltage Set Point via telemetered data to all affected parties.
HOW DO I ENSURE COMPLIANCE?
With comprehensive NPRR compliance support, Ulteig helps scheduling entities and transmission operators within the ERCOT region save costs, avoid penalties and maintain positive relationships with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT).
Ulteig’s implementation of ERCOT NPRR 776 involves updating the RTU points per the diagram below. These new points are checked out with the QSE for scaling and accuracy. We then work with the HMI vendor to add points to existing displays (for visibility only) and scale accordingly. Work concludes with checkout of the HMI screen.Read More Here
