Celebrating Employee Owners

Ulteig’s Employee Ownership program inspires us to be better for ourselves, our clients and the communities we serve.

This month at Ulteig, in conjunction with National ESOP (Employee Stock Option Program) Month, we are celebrating Ulteig’s Employee Owners. In spite of a pandemic, we’re having fun celebrating with chili cook-off, an Employee-Owner virtual bingo game, and celebrating all the employees who have now become 100% vested!

Our Employee-Ownership program is very special to us. It’s part of our culture. In a nutshell, every employee – not just our engineers – becomes an owner of the firm beginning on the first day of their employment. All employees become 100% vested after 6 years with the firm.

Ulteig isn’t a publicly traded company beholden to outside investors. We’re not owned by an individual, a family, or even a small group of partners. Through our Employee Ownership program, every employee has the opportunity to become a full owner in our firm.

Looking back, becoming an employee-owned company was one of the best decisions we ever made as a firm. And now, we’re looking forward to extending a similar program to the new members of our team in Hamilton, Ontario. We choose to celebrate this program because it truly is what makes us different, and it defines who we are today and what we want to be in the future.

With each and every client problem that we are trying to solve, the names and reputations of each of our employee-owners is on the line. In other words, we win together and we lose together. And just knowing that, gives us pause, and inspires us to take our problem solving to a higher level. As employee-owners, we are constantly challenging ourselves to do better for our clients. We feel strongly that truly great design begins with this inner sense of pride of ownership.
