Thirteen join Ulteig in June

Kevin Doe
Doe joined the Substation team in St. Paul, Minn., as an engineer. With experience as a systems applications engineer, he has a background in providing technical expertise, leading project deployments, assisting firmware teams, developing and customizing procedures for over-the-air 900 MHz FLEX paging reprogramming, and developed field trial plans for new products. Doe has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D., and holds a professional engineers license in Minnesota.
Humberto Lago
Lago joined the T&D & C team as a CADD technician in St. Paul. He has experience in 3D models, top level and assembly blueprints and modifying existing drawings.
Daniel Wesley
Wesley is the Substation team’s new senior engineering technician in Denver. Wesley has experience in design and production management in substation and transmission, including design, coordination, plans, sections, single-lines, wiring and schematic diagrams. He has more than 20 years of industry experience.
Craig Couch
Couch is the latest project manager to join the Project Management team, working from Missoula, Mont. He has extensive experience managing teams to produce electrical design services, performing construction administration, estimating, and procurement. He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark., and is a certified project management professional.
Sara Ouenes
Ouenes has joined the T&D & C team in Denver as an intern. She has worked in RFI, DC and submittal tracking, assisting in rebuilding a new computerized maintenance management system, pay application verification and monitoring as well as writing monthly reports on project progress. Ouenes is working towards a bachelor’s degree in civil environmental engineering and a masters in structural engineering.
Mary Schindler
Schindler has moved up from intern to join the Civil team as a graduate engineer, based in Fargo. She has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University in Fargo.
Ablam (John) Amavi
Amavi joined the Substation team as a design engineer based in St. Paul. He has experience in substation design, design of new communication schemes, transformer and electro-mechanical relay replacement, operation support related to T&D and generation facilities, and has worked on NERC redundancy and reliability. Amavi has has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb., and holds an engineering in training certificate.
David Graham
Graham has joined the Project Management team as a lead project manager, based in Denver. His experience includes leading a multidisciplinary team on the design of a new inverter interconnection platform, performing troubleshooting and analysis for field failures and issues, generating and managing specifications and quotations from suppliers and developing a medium voltage safety program for the laboratory.
Graham has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo., and a master’s degree in global energy management from the University of Colorado in Denver. He is a licensed professional engineer in Colorado.
Robert Larsen
Larsen joined the T&D & C team in Fargo as a graduate engineer. He has experience inspecting newly built roads and structures, coordinating with foremen, planned and inspected tests, as well as tracked and measured quantities of various materials of construction. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota – Duluth.
Devin Kaschinske
Kaschinske joined the Substation team in Denver as a graduate engineer. His previous experience consists of assisting with proposals for new power plant projects, reviewing P&ID’s, one-line diagrams and technical specification sheets, as well as providing general assistance to project management and engineering departments. He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo.
Renee DeWeese
DeWeese has joined the T&D & C team as a senior engineering technician in Denver. Previously, as a senior specialty designer, she was responsible for reviewing design packages from consultants to ensure they were to company standards, administered Projectwise and directed other design team members and outside consultants on how to file per company standards, and managed and operated the companywide material data system for steel and wood pole structures.
DeWeese has an associate’s degree in drafting and design from ITT Technical Institute in Thornton, Colo., and holds a certificate of completion for PLSCADD from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisc.
Abdi Jama
Jama has joined the St. Paul Substation team as a graduate engineer. His experience includes studying power systems and their transient stability, developing transmission expansion plans and reliability assessments, performing power flow modeling, analyzing and assessing transmission systems for compliance and performed coordinated expansion planning studies with entities at MISO seams. He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
Todd Sorden
Sorden has joined the Substation team as an intern, located in Denver. His previous experience includes QC inspection, pre-electrical testing, function testing and schematic reviews. He is working towards a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo.
