Ulteig Sponsors Year of the Engineer

January 31, 2018
Having a positive impact on the quality of life in the communities where we operate is an important element of our identity. Through our philanthropic efforts and volunteer activities, we seek to address the achievement gap and increase interest and awareness of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines.
The Science Museum of Minnesota has proclaimed 2018 the Year of the Engineer and, in alignment with our commitment,Ā Ulteig isĀ serving as one of the primary supporters of this initiative.Ā Scientific and technical occupations are expected to increase up to 33 percent in the next 10 years, and 18 out of the 20 fastest growing occupations will be tied to STEM disciplines. The need, both locally and globally, for strong engineering talent is just one driving force behind this initiative.Ā
To recognize the importance of engineering for the stateās economy and the Science Museumās dedication to engineering, Governor Dayton has formally declared 2018 the Year of the Engineer in Minnesota.Ā Senator Amy Klobuchar also has a special message to share with Minnesota regarding the Year of the Engineer.
The Science Museum has an exciting lineup of films, exhibits, events and programs that celebrate the human ingenuity behind engineering and the critical role engineers play in our society.Ā
