Nine Join Ulteig in September
Stephen Azzam
Stephen
joins the TD&C team as an Engineer. He will be based out of the
Denver office and will report to Sarah Beckman. Stephen was previously
employed with Electrical Consultants, Inc. in San Diego, CA. In his
role, he was an engineer II designing transmission and distribution
lines. He has spent a lot of time working on ATC, SDG&E, and
OG&E projects and has extensive experience using PLS-CAD, PLS-Pole,
PLS-Tower, PLS-Caisson, and has well-rounded structure and design
knowledge. Stephen will be working predominantly on Xcel and renewables
projects as he begins his tenure with Ulteig. Stephen is licensed as a
Professional Engineer in California and holds a B.S. in Civil
Engineering from UC-Irvine.
Mary Bourquin
Mary joins the Substation team as a
CAD Technician. She will be based out of the St. Paul, MN office and
will report to John Olson and supporting mainly ITC client projects.
Previously, Mary was a contractor working at Xcel Energy as a GIS
Technician where she performed QA/QC checks and mentored new
consultants. Prior to that, Mary has experience as a CAD Technician as a
contractor for Flour Engineering. Mary has experience using
AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microstation, AutoCAD Map 3D, and ArcGIS. Mary holds a
Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Environmental Geography with a Minor
Anthropology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
Tess Maclin
Tess joins Ulteig as a Senior
Marketing Specialist. She will be located in St Paul, reporting to Kelly
Frankenfeld, responsible for Corporate Marketing including two primary
corporate marketing areas: Market Awareness: Developing and
implementing plans to effectively increase current and potential client
awareness of who Ulteig is and what Ulteig offers. And Competitive
Analysis and Differentiation: Developing and implementing plans to
effectively ensure that Ulteig is well positioned today and into the
future. Tess will have a specific focus on brand management,
advertising, internet management, competitive assessments, benchmarking
and market/industry scans. She has over 7 years in marketing roles
where she was responsible for: Communication, business development, CRM
utilization and management, channel and content management (websites,
social media, email/direct marketing), competitive assessments, market
research, as well as marketing collateral development and production.
Tess has a degree in Strategic Communications from the University of
Minnesota and a minor in Business Management from Carlson School of
Management.
Garrett Rood
Garrett joins the Substation team as
an Engineer. He will be based out of the Denver office and will report
to Chris DeWall. Garrett was previously employed with Sunflower Electric
as a Generation Engineer. In his role he was primarily responsible for
providing engineering support for eleven power plants in western Kansas.
His key responsibilities include the development of technical
specification, plant optimization evaluations and recommendations,
identification of project scopes, budgets, and timeframes from
conception through construction. Garrett will be predominantly working
on Xcel project supporting PSCO and SPS. Garrett is a licensed
Professional Engineer in Kansas and holds a Bachelor of Science degree
from Kansas State University in Electrical Engineering.
Greg Parent
Greg joins the T&D&C team as a
senior engineer. He will be based out of the Denver office and will
report to Sarah Beckman. Previously Greg was employed with Peak
Power/Atwell-Group in Lakewood, Colorado. In his role, he was a senior
engineer, managing teams in both substation and transmission. He has
extensive structural experiences with different structure types and
foundations, transmission line design and optimization and substation
steel structures. During Greg’s time at Ulteig so far, he has received
notification that he is a Model Law Structural Engineer. Greg is
licensed as a Professional Engineer in 14 states and a licensed
Structural Engineer in 3 states with 1 more on the way. He holds a B.S.
in Civil Engineering and an M.S. in Structural Engineering from LeHigh
University.
Kate Ebnet
Kate joins the Project Management team
as a project coordinator. She will be based out of our Denver office
and will report to Nick Ingolfsland. Previously Kate was employed with
Ambor Structures, Inc in St. Paul, Minnesota as an assistant engineer.
In her role, she was responsible for managing company-wide engineering
priorities and working directly with the engineering staff to ensure all
tower designs met project requirements, preliminary and detailed
project designs, provided sales assistance and facilitate project
development. Kate has a bachelor’s degree in German business/
professions from the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Carolyn Schoonover
Carolyn joins the Project
Management team as a project scheduler. She will be based out of our
Denver office and will report to Nick Ingolfsland. Previously Carolyn
was employed with Lockheed Martin in Centennial, Colorado as a project
management and planning operations representative. In her role, she was
responsible for overseeing and managing the operational aspects of
ongoing projects and sustaining schedules for the IT&C and Technical
Management and Administration Department’s as well as serve as a
liaison between project management, planning, the project team and line
management. Carolyn has a master’s in project management and a master’s
in executive management both from Colorado Technical University in
Greenwood Village, Colorado as well as a bachelor’s degree in natural
science and math from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming. She
is a certified project management professional.
Eli Ladd
Eli joins the Substation team as a lead
engineer. He will be a telecommute employee based out of Portland, Maine
and will report to Jeff Heinemann. Previously Eli was employed with
Ameresco, Inc. in Portland, Maine as a lead plant operations engineer.
In his role, he was responsible for technical support, troubleshooting,
training, capital repairs and improvements to waste-to-energy generating
stations, technical support and training for operators at several
utility-owned facilities and for management of a small team of technical
support personnel. Eli has a bachelor’s degree in electrical
engineering from the University of Maine in Orono, Maine. He is a
licensed professional engineer in the state of Maine.
Sarah Skinner
Sarah joins the Project Management
team as a project manager. She will be based out of our Denver office
and will report to Nick Ingolfsland. Previously Sarah was employed with
Alstom in Sao Paulo, Brazil as a senior project planner. In her role,
she was responsible for driving project execution for on-shore wind
turbine farms and hydroelectric units to maximize the project
performance with respect to cash and margin by providing project
deliverables, planning, procurement and budgets. Sarah has a master’s
degree in environmental policy and management from the University of
Denver in Denver, Colorado.
