Ulteig’s Wyatt Knepper Receives RMEL’s 2020 Emerging Leader Award
Wyatt Knepper, Technical Manager ‐ Substation, Ulteig, is a recipient of RMEL’s 2020 Emerging Leader Award.
The Emerging Leader Award recognizes and honors RMEL members who are high potentials in their company and have 5-10 years of experience in the industry, establishing significant contributions within their organization and have demonstrated the potential for leadership and continuing service in the electric utility industry.
Wyatt leads one of the Billings-based Substation teams focused on protection & control engineering. He is an energetic, results-focused, and committed leader and is widely regarded as an up-and-coming manager at Ulteig. Wyatt was the company’s first fully remote Technical Manager, a past obstacle for manager success that was quickly overcome by Wyatt’s exceptional communication skills and ability to regularly engage employees around him. Managing a team of fully remote employees in the Billings area along with Denver office-based employees, Wyatt rose to the challenge with a compelling, collaborative style and disciplined expectations around communication. Contributing to major initiatives: Wyatt continued to grow the Billings remote employee base. Because of this commitment and the team’s results, Ulteig saw the long-term potential for an official Billings office with Wyatt’s leadership as its foundation. In December of 2018, Ulteig opened its Billings location. His work has become the model for future office expansions.
The Emerging Leader Awards Program began in 2014 as an RMEL Board of Directors initiative to recognize the future generation of leaders who are already making an impact. To date, 50 individuals have been selected.
Congratulations to all 2020 RMEL Emerging Leader Award Winners, and thank you for your dedication to the electric energy industry.
