Growth and Belonging Through Mentorship

Erin Stenger Culture Program Manager

Starting a new job or entering a new industry can feel overwhelming. As Ulteig Culture Program Manager Erin Stenger shared with Prairie Business Magazine, mentorship helps employees feel connected, supported and equipped to grow from day one.

That support starts immediately. New employees are paired with both a technical mentor and a culture buddy, creating two distinct but complementary points of connection. Technical mentors help new hires build confidence in their role by teaching responsibilities, tools and expectations, while culture buddies help them navigate team norms, build relationships and discover ways to get involved through Ulteig’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Culture Committee.

As employees continue to grow, mentorship grows with them. Opportunities include the year-long Explorers Expedition, specialized mentorship through ERGs and a new companywide mentorship program launching this year matching leaders and employees based on strengths and desired skill development. Importantly, interns also benefit from touchpoints with leaders who broaden their understanding of the industry and help them explore future career paths.

Together, these efforts help employees build skills, strengthen connections and find the support they need to succeed throughout their careers.
