Molly Thiebaut: Expanding Ulteig’s Reach and Commitment in the Mountain West/Desert Southwest
November 11, 2024
As Ulteig expands its transportation infrastructure services across the Mountain West and Desert Southwest regions, Molly Thiebaut brings a unique blend of expertise, public service dedication and deep regional connections to her new role as Market Leader for the region.
Thiebaut is focused on sustainable growth and expanding Ulteig’s impact across the region. Her unique background – blending mechanical engineering expertise with construction management experience – delivers a fresh perspective to traditional civil engineering challenges.
From Mechanical Engineering Design to Market Leader
Unlike many in her field, Thiebaut’s journey began with mechanical engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. After eight years as a A&E consultant serving the Department of Defense (DoD) clients, she discovered her passion for construction via Design Build contracts – specifically, the tangible impact of seeing designs transform into reality. Her transition from vertical to horizontal construction opened new possibilities in public infrastructure, where she found her true calling.
“Transportation infrastructure lets you make a day-to-day impact on communities,” Thiebaut explains. “It lit the spark of public service in me.”
Born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado, Thiebaut’s connection to the region runs deep. As the daughter of a former state senator and Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) commissioner, public service is in her DNA. This heritage, combined with her firsthand experience of Colorado’s growth, infuses her approach to market leadership with genuine commitment.
“It drives me. I care about the people here, the roads, the state’s evolution,” she says. “When I walk these areas after projects, there’s ongoing stewardship – if I notice issues like pavement cracks or malfunctioning traffic signals, I ensure the right officials are notified.”
Innovative Approaches to Transportation
As a professional mechanical engineer, Molly’s engineering background equips her with a unique perspective on transportation projects. By challenging conventional methods and asking critical questions early, she introduces innovative solutions that save clients money and improve project outcomes. Her previous role as a Technical Manager provided her with invaluable insights into client needs and market demands, laying the groundwork for her current leadership position.
One of Ulteig’s priorities is helping local agencies navigate the complexities of federal and state funding and regulations. “Many municipalities are receiving grant funding through FHWA or state funding through CDOT, but there’s often an administrative knowledge gap between local agencies and the funding requirements,” she explains. “Ulteig steps in with former CDOT personnel and extensive consulting experience to help with administrative compliance throughout design and construction to bridge this gap.”
Ulteig’s Expertise and Vision
Ulteig is at the forefront of transportation innovation, leveraging AI implementation, digital twins and early stakeholder engagement across roadway design, construction management and bridge engineering. “We’ve been in the [Mountain West/Desert Southwest]market for just over seven years, and we’ve barely scratched the surface of how we can serve,” Thiebaut notes.
Our team’s human-centric approach ensures that we deliver solutions tailored to the unique needs of each community. Under Molly’s leadership, Ulteig is poised to address the evolving challenges of the region’s transportation sector, offering strategic insights and cutting-edge solutions that drive progress across Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Idaho, Arizona and Utah – markets that can benefit from Ulteig’s proven capabilities.
A Partnership for Safe, SustainableTransportation Infrastructure
Looking ahead, Thiebaut is focused on sustainable growth and expanding Ulteig’s impact across the region. “Whether it’s maintaining rural highways or developing multi-modal transportation solutions, our goal is to serve communities while driving innovation,” she concludes. “It’s about public service first, and finding creative ways to deliver the best possible results for our clients and their communities.”
